Arce Should Face Donaire vs Vazquez Winner, Says Paco

WBO bantamweight champion Jorge ‘Travieso’ Arce (59-6-2, 46KOs) has already announce his upcoming fight on February 18th in Durango, Mexico – a rematch with Venezuelan Lorenzo Parra. Should Arce beat Parra, he would like to get the winner of the WBO featherweight bout between champion Orlando Salido and challenger Juan Manuel Lopez, which is likely to happen in March. WBO President Francisco “Paco” Valcarcel considers the move to featherweight as being a little too much for Arce.

Paco would rather see him face the winner of Nonito Donaire-Wilfredo Vazquez Jr., who on February 4th will battle for the vacant WBO super bantamweight title, which is the belt that Arce left behind to drop down in weight to capture his current strap.

“I think [Arce] should go afer the winner of Nonito Donaire and Wilfredo Vazquez, who fight on February 4 in San Antonio [Texas]. Of course Arce is the only Mexican who won titles in five different divisions and four of them have been with the WBO. No doubt, ‘Travieso’ is a warrior, but I would prefer that he takes a fight with Donaire or Vazquez,” Paco told Sal Rodriguez.
