The former IBF 147-pound title holder Jan Zaveck (32-2, 18 KO’s) will fight against unbeaten American welterweight prospect Keith Thurman (19-0, 18 KO’s) on Saturday in the Barclay Center in Brooklyn / NYC for the WBO Inter-Continental Championship. In the press conference Zaveck being unfazed by Thurman’s declaring ‘love putting people to sleep.

Jan Zaveck stated: “I promise Saturday, it’s going to be one big night. We’re both going to show, it’s not just words. We are set. Saturday is our night. If Thurman is a prospect in our weight, I’ll show him that a prospect needs time and a lot of experience to become a champion. I have a dream and America is the place where this dream will come true. I miss having a world championship belt around my waist. NYC is a place where I feel great, I like to be here, this is my ground. So, I’ll beat this American prospect and this could open the door to a soon world title fight. Overall I fight for my family, my country Slovenia, my SES staple and Promoter Ulf Steinforth.”

SES Boxing Promoter Ulf Steinforth: “Jan Zaveck worked hard for this chance to get back a world champion title, after his unlucky lost against Berto in 2011 caused by a cut. In his fight here in the States Jan always elated the experts, the boxing fans and the TV responsibles by his great fights and his style. Now Jan Zaveck will repeat this here in NYC and will show his ambition to fight very soon for a world championship. Overall, he’s great sportsman, a folk hero in his country Slovenia and so I promise a great fight and an impressive win!”

This WBO title bout will be the televised opener of the Saturdays HBO show with the headliner Hopkins vs. Cloud for the IBF light heavyweight championship.
