WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly, who headlines Frank Warren’s Wembley Arena show on April 20, has insisted he will stay loyal to the promoter whom he believes will get him a unification fight with American ring legend Bernard Hopkins in 2013.

Two of Warren’s fighters – George Groves and Ricky Burns – have joined rival promoter Eddie Hearn in the last fortnight, with Warren suing Burns for substantial damages.

Warren put out a statement on Monday after Burns was announced as having joined Hearn’s Matchroom Sport stable.

The statement read: “Ricky Burns is under binding promotional and management contracts. Following the announcement by Eddie Hearn that Ricky Burns has signed with him, W. Promotions Limited and Frank Warren are suing Burns for substantial damages.”

Cleverly, however, insists he is staying with Warren, and believes the veteran promoter will secure him a unification fight with Bernard Hopkins after he faces Robin Krasniqi on April 20.
