Óscar Collazo made a successful third defense of his WBO Mini Flyweight title

Óscar Collazo made a successful third defense of his WBO Mini Flyweight title when outscored Gerardo Zapata by unanimous decision in Verona, New York.

Zapata showed in the second round that he could cause some problems when a right hand almost sent the defending champion to the canvas.

This was the only moment of concern for Collazo who went onto control the rest of the fight, and it looked like Collazo could have ended it early after stunning Zapata with a right hand in the sixth, but he was unable to capitalise.

While Zapata gave a good account of himself, it was clear that Collazo was the winner with two judges scoring the fight 119-109 and the other 117-110 in his favour.
