Sherrington TKOs Suico for WBO Asia Pacific middleweight title

LES “Lock N Load” Sherrington of Australia won the vacant WBO Asia Pacific middleweight title win in front of his hometown fans in Townsville, Queensland, Australia Friday night by beating Filipino Randy “Komong Bato” Suico by technical knockout in the eighth round.

The 30 year-old Sherrington, who also holds the World Boxing Federation (WBF) World Middleweight championship belt, will boost his top ten ranking with the World Boxing Organization (WBO) by virtue of his latest victory. He improves his career record to 30 wins (18 KOs) and six losses.

The 33 year-old Suico on the other hand, has suffered three losses in his last four bouts. The Cebuano’s last win was on November 27, 2010 against countryman Arnel Tinampay by majority decision. Suico’s career record dropped to 30W-8L-1D with 25 stoppages. /Correspondent Rene Bonsubre Jr.
